GenVec is working with leading companies and organizations such as Novartis, Merial, and the U.S. Government to support a portfolio of product programs that address the prevention and treatment of a number of significant human and animal health concerns.

GenVec’s development programs address therapeutic areas such as hearing loss, balance disorders, and cancer; as well as vaccines against infectious diseases including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2), dengue fever, influenza, malaria, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). In the area of animal health we are developing vaccines against foot-and-mouth disease (FMD).

RECOMMENDATIONS:

The Challenge: In such an environment, research teams on a global scale must go from collaboration on one day and competing with each other the next. To be competitive in decoding a genetic sequence, while respecting Intellectual Property Patents that are being issued at a frenetic pace is a daunting task. Then add the need for Federal Grants that can be tied into rates of success, Pharmaceutical oversight agencies, the pace of new discoveries, and the demand for scientific accuracy, and you have a formula for an environment thrown into full-throttle daily.

Can VRI really add value to such an environment? A researcher speaks out.

RESULTS:

"This service has truly been an asset for me, especially in a fast-paced work environment where meetings are scheduled and/or cancelled within the hour. On-site interpreters weren’t an option as they require scheduling appointments in advance and cancellations must be made within 24 hours prior. A quick call to the VRI service at BIS is all I need to be involved in discussions with my co-workers."If we can add value here, can we add value with your team too?
