Client Relationships

Matching the proper interpreter with the needs of our clients is our first priority and our focus is to provide the best sign language interpreter/transliterator possible for your specific situation.

BIS’ administrative team consists of a combination of Deaf and hearing staff, as well as certified working interpreters. Thanks to our extensive experience and the fact that we are a Deaf-owned company, we have full knowledge of the needs and expectations of both the Deaf community and our hearing consumers.

At BIS, an exemplary staff, flexible ideology, and a multi-disciplinary philosophy combine to create a solid working relationship with our clients based on honesty, integrity and confidence. It's a powerful team approach that assures rapid response, unwavering ethical commitment and accurate communication with the people you want to reach.

Online Scheduling

BIS maintains our own online, web-based scheduling system that is password protected and secure (www.bisscheduling.com). This system empowers paying clients and requestors to manage their own schedule for interpreting services. The system has several different interfaces to allow for ease of use for paying clients, requestors, deaf consumers, and BIS employees. The system is live 24/7 and allows anyone with the proper log in and password to conduct business no matter the time of day.

The client interface allows the paying entity to establish official requestors who can commit funds to pay for interpreting services. The requestor interface allows one to make, view, and edit requests for interpreting services. Another benefit of the system is to allow deaf consumers to view their own confirmations if the requestor so chooses.

Requests

Making a request for BIS interpreting services is simple, fast and easy. Simply submit the online Client Intake Form. A BIS representative will call you back shortly to discuss your needs and will send you a BIS information packet. BIS is especially capable of handling your urgent emergency and last-minute requests for interpreting services. In addition to our regular staff interpreters, more than 75% of our management staff are also interpreters and are authorized to leave the office to handle urgent interpreting requests. BIS reserves two staff interpreters on average each day who then may be assigned to last minute requests. Additionally, we maintain a list of contractual employees we can call on to perform if our staff interpreters are not available.

To make an urgent request, call our office at 301.587.8885.

Billing and Costs

DocumentsThe fees for BIS interpreting services are determined by a number of factors including the type of service provided, the lead-time of the request, the location and other variables. Services are typically provided at an hourly rate, and the industry standard is a two-hour minimum.

When you request services, you will be asked to provide some basic information regarding the services you desire. BIS will then provide you with a quote for the cost of services based upon the parameters you provide. You have the opportunity to review and approve the costs prior to services being rendered.
